Product Description

Libelle H is a proven mid-early hybrid cucumber – and the variety of choice for anyone who grows cucumbers not for casual snacking but deliberately for the pantry. What makes Libelle H special? The ripening behaviour. While most cucumber varieties produce just a few ripe fruits at a time over many weeks, with Libelle H the bulk of the crop ripens simultaneously. For canning, that is worth gold: instead of many small portions, you fill several jars with evenly sized cucumbers in a single canning day. The dark green fruits with fine warts and white spines reach about 90 grams – the classic size for jarred gherkins. The variety thrives outdoors as well as under protection (film or greenhouse). Important for growing: cucumbers need real warmth. Sow only once the soil at 10 cm depth has reached at least 13–14 °C – usually from mid-May. For an earlier harvest, start in pots from late April. Who is this variety for? Canning pros, self-sufficient gardeners and anyone who wants a plannable cucumber harvest – the classic for the annual pickle-jar ritual.
