Product Description

Bona is an exceptionally high-quality beetroot for anyone who values quality – in the bed, in the jar and on the plate. What makes Bona special? The flesh. The round, smooth-skinned roots are coloured dark red throughout and completely free of the pale rings that many standard varieties show. Best of all: Bona keeps its intense colour when cooked – your soups, salads and pickled beets look as good as they taste. With a vegetation period of around 120 days, this mid-early variety is extremely versatile: oven-roasted, in borscht, pickled and preserved – and thanks to its excellent storability it supplies you from the cellar all winter long. Bona prefers deeply loosened, medium, non-acidic loam soils. Sow directly into the bed from mid-April; be sure to thin the seedlings, as beetroot seeds are clusters containing several embryos. A word on quality: this seed comes from a premium batch with 99% purity and tested germination – which makes it pricier than standard seed, but every sowing counts. Who is this variety for? Self-sufficient gardeners, preserving enthusiasts and anyone who wants beetroot at its best.
