Product Description

Złoto Wolicy – the Gold of Wolica – is an early Polish hybrid watermelon that simply flips the classic melon colour scheme: bright golden yellow outside, deep red inside. What makes Złoto Wolicy special? First, the appearance: a golden-yellow watermelon in the bed is an eye-catcher that hardly any visitor can place. But this variety is more than show: the deep red flesh is juicy and particularly sweet, and the fruits reach up to 6 kg. Add a solid growing advantage: high resistance to both powdery and downy mildew – the two fungal diseases that most often weaken melon plants in late summer. And as an early variety, it makes optimal use of the short warm window of temperate summers. Propagation starts in late April indoors (germination at 25–28 °C); at the end of May the seedlings go outdoors or under glass – in a full-sun, wind-sheltered spot, because watermelons stop growing below 15 °C. Who is this variety for? Gardeners looking for something special without sacrificing yield security – and anyone who enjoys hearing the question at the garden fence: what on earth is that?
